"Laboratory" a play in the most pure form of absurd takes place in a closed, blank room. Because of this cell-like situation nothing enters nor leaves therefore the whole play revolves around dialogues jumping off of the 3 men stuck in the room.
The small backstory told in the play forms the idea that the world has ended and 3 men with complete different mindsets are stuck in one closed room for many years. The room has silver lines on the floor that show connections. It seems as if the men have studied these connections in hopes to figure a way out. But the lines never lead to leaving, the only exception is half a silver hexagon that could possibly be a window.
The 3 men very forcefully show the 3 kinds of people the writer believes exist.
One of the men (dressed in black) believes in change. He walks around angrily, yelling and begging for the other two to let him open the so-called window. He's limping but shows no sign of weakness. Another (dressed in gray) is stopping him, repeating that there is no window. He's sitting down and resting the whole play. He's got scars on his back that seem to represent the idea of people who lose a risk therefore never risk again. He doesn't WANT there to be a window. He believes in fate, in letting the world go around and just watching it. And the third man (dressed in white with a spot of color) shows the kind of person who's already settled down and agreed with the situation he's in. He does his own never stepping out of the lines.
The whole concept of the play is pointing out how we, as humans are suffering but not willing to stand up and make ... دیدن ادامه ›› a change.
Although most of the writing is heavily worded, the idea is simple and straightforward.
All in all, I do believe it's a good enough idea to sit and think about: Which man are you and which man will save the world?
