"The Hole", directed excellently by Jaber Ramezzani, is a powerful and entertaining play about how fear of terrorism can lead to the loss of any sense of justice, how the sexual taboo inevitably gets channelled into violence and how a tiny spark of humanity can be found even in worst enemies when they are, although only momentarily, presented with a viable alternative. The play also reveals how the ongoing cruelty in our world causes us to either turn away from it, or find a valve for the built up tensions in comic relief. A rewarding theatrical experience high-lighting some of the darker aspects of human behavior and encouraging us to think about ourselves.
